Our Farm
In the business of producing quality milk since 2006.
Mailig Farms has been proudly farming in the heart of West Gippsland since 2006. Our focus has always been on producing high-quality milk while continually investing in the welfare of our cows, the efficiency of our farm and the sustainability of our operation.
In 2008 we built our 200m free-stall barn. The barn accommodates 330 dairy cows and features self-locking head stalls and comfortable sand bedding. This system provides our cows with a clean, dry and comfortable environment throughout the day while allowing our team to efficiently manage herd health and nutrition.
Our herd is managed using a Total Mixed Ration (TMR) feeding system, ensuring every cow receives a carefully balanced diet to support health, wellbeing and milk production. Weather permitting, our cows also enjoy grazing fresh pasture overnight, giving them the best of both housed and pasture-based farming.
We are committed to breeding for the future, with the majority of our herd carrying A2A2 genetics. By continually improving our genetics, we aim to produce premium-quality A2 milk while maintaining a healthy, productive and efficient herd.
Growing quality feed is an essential part of our farming system. Each year we grow maize, oats and silage crops to help supply nutritious feed for our cows throughout the seasons. This is balanced with brought in feed to have a complete balanced ration. Producing much of our own feed allows us to maintain consistent feed quality while supporting the long-term sustainability of our business.
At Mailig Farms, we believe that exceptional milk starts with exceptional cow care. By combining modern technology, progressive farming practices and a genuine commitment to animal welfare, we continue to invest in a dairy business that is productive, sustainable and built for the future.

Our Calves
The future of our herd begins with our calves. All calves are reared using modern automatic calf feeders and individual calf hutches, allowing us to closely monitor health, growth and milk intake while providing a clean, comfortable environment during the early stages of life.
Alongside raising our replacement heifers, we place a strong focus on creating valuable market opportunities for our bull and beef calves. We are also developing a breeding program to offer high-quality Friesian bulls for joining, selected for sound structure, temperament and strong dairy genetics. Through careful breeding decisions and high standards of calf management, we aim to maximise the value of every calf born on our farm while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.
