Our Cows
At Mailig Farms, our registered cows are at the centre of everything we do. Every management decision—from breeding and nutrition to housing and herd health—is focused on producing healthy, long-lasting cows capable of consistently producing high-quality milk.

Genetics That Drive Improvement
Our herd is bred using artificial insemination (AI), with carefully selected Friesian sires chosen to continually improve the genetic performance of future generations. Our breeding program focuses on producing cows with excellent milk production, sound structure, fertility, longevity and calm temperaments.

All of our cows are registered with Holstein Australia, ensuring the integrity of our breeding records and supporting our commitment to continual genetic improvement.

The majority of our herd carries A2A2 genetics, supporting our commitment to producing premium-quality milk while continually improving herd performance.

Split-Calving System
Our herd operates on a split-calving system, with cows calving during autumn and late spring. This approach allows to maintain a consistent milk supply throughout the year and spread the workload across the farming calendar.
Our Bulls
At Mailig Farms, we are developing a Friesian bull breeding program focused on producing structurally sound, fertile and productive bulls for Australian dairy herds.
Our breeding philosophy centres on selecting bulls from proven cow families with strong production, sound conformation, excellent temperament and longevity. Every breeding decision is made with the aim of improving the profitability and sustainability of commercial dairy farms.

Raised with Care
Every bull calf is raised using our modern calf-rearing system, including automatic calf feeders and individual calf hutches during the critical early stages of life. This provides each calf with excellent nutrition, close health monitoring and the best possible start.
As they mature, our young bulls are managed to ensure they develop into healthy, well-grown animals suitable for commercial dairy breeding.
